Environmental & Spatial

Translating concepts into immersive visual worlds through symbolic systems, color, scale, and refined spatial storytelling.

Brooklyn
Navy Yard

Brief & Concept

Selected by the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation, I was tasked with creating a large-scale public artwork that embodied Brooklyn’s many communities. I developed “Our Brooklyn” as a symbolic visual system: a foundation of my own abstract forms expressing belonging and movement, expanded through symbols submitted by local residents. The result is a collective narrative that reflects the emotional rhythms and lived experiences of the borough.

Impact

The installation transformed a formerly utilitarian fence into a vibrant, meaningful public canvas. With hundreds of shape submissions, the visual vocabulary expanded into a collective narrative and meeting point of community celebration.
